UEM Land’s Pioneer Pintar Al-Quran Preschoolers Graduate
7 November 2009

It was a momentous day for UEM Land Holdings Berhad as its Pintar Al-Quran Program met its objective of helping preschoolers complete their “khatam” (reading) of the Al-Quran.

The idea of an Al-Quran reading program for pre-schoolers was mooted by Dato’ Ayub Mion, Director of Bandar Nusajaya Development Sdn Bhd early last year. UEM Land’s Pintar Al-Quran program is based on the Terengganu Pintar Al-Quran Education Program pioneered by the Terengganu Islamic Foundation (YIT).

Sixteen months after the commencement of the program in July 2008, UEM Land celebrated the success of 60 of these young children aged 5 and 6 who had completed reading the entire Quran, at a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony held at the Grand Paragon Hotel, Johor Bahru. This auspicious event was officiated by the Chief Minister of Johor, YAB Dato’ Abdul Ghani bin Othman.

UEM Land’s Pintar Al-Quran Program provided free classes to the students who stayed on for an additional hour daily after the formal kindergarten hours for these reading classes.

Also present at the event were UEM Land Holdings Berhad Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, En Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim, as host, and YB Dato’ Ayub Mion, Director of Bandar Nusajaya Development Sdn Bhd, YIT’s Director Tn Hj Mohd Zulkifli Abu Bakar as well as representatives from Johor Department of Social Welfare and Johor Religious Department.
