17 March 2010: 31 selected options English teachers from our PINTAR Schools seized the opportunity to participate in the English Program conducted by British Council and sponsored by UEM Land at SK Sikijang. The first training session which is known as Classroom Learning 1 comprised 15 hours of instruction and role play.
The objective of this program is to provide exposure to the teachers on how to teach and make learning English Language more effective for their students. The course covered the basic and intermediate aspects of English Language covering grammar, speaking and so on to prepare the teachers to assist the students under their care in developing their speaking and writing skills.
This session is the first of a four-session program that has been planned for the year. The second session for the Classroom Learning will be held from 22-24 April 2010 followed by Methodology sessions on 7-10 June for primary teachers and 21-24 June for the secondary teachers.
This English Program for teachers replaces the ICT programs that have been held successfully for the last 3 years. It seeks to help develop an English-literate generation in Nusajaya and engender an English-speaking environment in UEM Land’s PINTAR schools. This is one of UEM Land’s Corporate Responsibility (CR) programs geared towards developing a sustainable local community in Nusajaya.
