JOHOR BAHRU, Wednesday, December 17th – UEM Land Berhad, the master developer of Nusajaya and key driver of Iskandar Malaysia, today launched its Quality Assurance, Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Department for organizing the Campaign Week on Quality Assurance, Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (QASHE) 2008.
A two-day seminar, themed - QASHE Culture in the workplace: Towards Better Quality Products with Zero Incident at Workplace, was launched by UEM Land Berhad Managing Director En Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim at the Puteri Pacific Hotel here today.
The seminar aims to create a better understanding on the Construction Quality Assurance, Occupational Safety, Health and Environment issues in the workplace that could affect the performance and productivity.
The Seminar aims to promote effective working culture between the Project Management Team and Project Consultant that includes:
- To discuss latest amendments on Environment, OSH Act and other related an act which involves the construction industry and workers in Malaysia.
- To discuss the roles and responsibilities of all people involved in development, project management and the function of Local Authority to monitor the non-conformances, if any.
- Latest information on other related agencies such as Akademi Binaan Malaysia and SIRIM in helping the Construction Industries to achieve higher level of product quality through competent worker and management systems certification.
In his launch speech, UEM Land Berhad Managing Director En Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim said, “At UEM Land group of companies, the Management drives towards Quality and Safety Working Culture in our effort to achieve a culture of excellence”.
“OSHE needs to be demonstrated and filtered down to all our subsidiaries, and be made part of our daily lives. It should be inculcated as a culture, and to be driven down to the consultants, contractors as well as employees. We want our stakeholders to be able to then see, feel and experience quality, safety, health and environment”, he added.
The launch ceremony held today also saw UEM Land’s certification for ISO 9001:2000 and OHSAS 18001:2007 by SIRIM Deputy Director ????
Some 200 people, comprising UEM Land staff, consultants and contractors, are participating in the Seminar.
