UEM Land Honours 2008 UPSR & PMR High Achievers

Nusajaya, Friday, 20 February 2008 – UEM Land Holdings Berhad, the master developer of Nusajaya and key driver of Iskandar Malaysia, today held a “Prize Giving Ceremony for 2008 UPSR and PMR High Achievers” for PINTAR schools students under its care. The ceremony took place at Dewan Raya MPJBT, Gelang Patah and was organised to celebrate and reward these outstanding students who had passed with flying colours in their recent examinations.

The ceremony also aimed to recognize the students’ hard work and determination in delivering their personal best. This is also an effort to instill and encourage the culture of excellence among PINTAR schools students, teachers as well as parents, to become more committed, and performance oriented in realizing their goals to achieve excellent results.

UEM Land todate has adopted four secondary and twelve primary schools in the Gelang Patah area. The overall results of UEM Land’s PINTAR schools’ students indicated an outstanding improvement for the year 2008. For UPSR, the schools collectively recorded a 32% increase compared to 2007, with 28 students achieving 5A’s whilst the PMR results indicated a tremendous 93% improvement, with 14 students getting 7As’ and 8A’s. The UPSR students and PMR students were respectively awarded RM200 and RM300 each.

Presenting the awards was En Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim, Managing Director of UEM Land Holdings Berhad. The ceremony was also graced by Nusajaya State Assemblyman, YB Datuk Hj Abdul Aziz Sapian.

UEM Land Berhad Managing Director, En Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim said, “It’s a proud moment for the students, parents and teachers and I am pleased to be here to honour and congratulate all of them, especially the high achieving students. We are gratified to learn that our effort in implementing the PINTAR program is beginning to bear fruit and for this, we wish to thank the Johor Bahru District Education Department (PPDJB), Johor State Educational Department (JPNJ), the teachers, parents and all relevant parties who have made this partnership possible.

UEM Land’s CSR policy is founded on education and community development. As a caring developer, we are eager to intensify our efforts and to continuously review and improve our PINTAR programs. Our objective is to help the community to grow in sync with the current developments in Nusajaya so that they can participate and benefit in its growth and development.” he added.

Some 200 people, comprising students, school heads, teachers, parents, Johor Bahru District Education Department, Johor State Educational Department and UEM Land representatives attended the event.
