Nusajaya, Saturday, 30 May 2009 – UEM Land Holdings Berhad (UEM Land), the master developer of Nusajaya and key driver of Iskandar Malaysia, today launched its “ICT CARNIVAL 2009 NUSAJAYA ZONE”, in collaboration with the Johor Bahru District Education Office (PPDJB).
It’s Managing Director; En Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim launched the 2-day event which would take place at SMK Tanjung Adang & SK Tanjung Adang. A number of educational activities, aimed to instill ICT awareness amongst its PINTAR school communities namely students, teachers and parents, would be held during the Carnival.
Over the years, UEM Land has organized various ICT Knowledge and Appreciation programmes as part of its CSR activities focused on education and community development.
Themed “ICT is the Catalyst for Excellent School”, the carnival served as a platform to expose the communities around Nusajaya with the latest in ICT. In the long run, it is hoped that it will help bridge the digital divide between the urban and rural population.
The 2-day Carnival included Inter Schools ICT Competitions which comprised Teaching & Learning Module Development Competition, Computer Assembling Competition, Computer Quizzes, Pre-School Colouring Contest and ICT Seminars. Exhibition booths were also set up by several key ICT operators on the latest digital consumer products such as computer hardware and software solutions. Visitors would also have the opportunity to participate in spontaneous quizzes handled by both exhibitors and organisers which would also give away attractive gifts.
According to Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim, Managing Director of UEM Land Holdings Berhad, “In working towards our vision to become a global community builder, UEM Land is continually looking into ways to help the community. As a caring developer, it is our commitment to help the community progress in various fields. We all know that today ICT is one of the ‘mandatory skills’ any knowledge worker must possess and it is the language for business and development.
It is our hope that this Carnival will be an ‘Info Hub’ for the community to garner fresh ideas, to promote capacity-building and to help us all to be more competitive and ICT ready,” he added.
The 2-day carnival would be officially closed by Johor State Education Director, Tn Hj Sufa’at Tumin on Sunday, 31 May at 11.30 am |
