NUSAJAYA, Sunday, February 27th 2011: UEM Land Holdings Berhad, the master developer of Nusajaya today hosted its first Super-Sunday series for 2011 with residents of Nusa Idaman, the company’s mid-market residential development project in Nusajaya.
The fun-filled Super Sunday is part of UEM Land’s efforts to interact and build closer relations with the public and the existing home owners in Nusajaya. Themed “Go Green, Live Green”, today’s event was also aimed at promoting and inculcating green habit amongst residents of Nusa Idaman and the public around the vicinity.
The event was also organised in support of the Source Separation programme initiated by Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), where Nusa Idaman has been selected to be the pilot project for this programme.
The Source Separation programme is part of IRDA’s initiatives to reduce waste generation at source, thus prolonging the lifespan of a landfill through 3R – reduce, reuse and recycle activities. It is also to educate residents in Iskandar Malaysia on the importance of living in a cleaner environment and how they can help to reduce waste generation in these areas so that the target of 30 percent reduction within five years can be achieved.
More than 500 residents thronged Nusa Idaman’s Sales Office and several fun-filled activities were arranged for the residents including the arts and crafts contest, and the most recycled product collection contest where residents could cash their recyclables at the collection counter.
Also participating in the event were representatives from the National Solid Waste Management Department (JPSPN), Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (PPSPPA), IRDA and Johor Bahru Tengah Municipal Council who briefed the residents on the national policy on solid waste management and the benefits of green habit.
