NUSAJAYA, Saturday, April 9th 2011: UEM Land Holdings Berhad, the master developer of Nusajaya, key driver of Iskandar Malaysia, today celebrated the success of 65 students from its PINTAR schools who achieved excellent results in the 2010 UPSR, PMR and SPM examinations.
The ceremony, organised for the third consecutive year under UEM Land’s Academic Excellence Programme, was aimed at acknowledging the effort, determination and perseverance of the students in delivering their personal best and ultimately, to motivate and encourage students to strive harder for their future undertakings.
In addition, the ceremony is also to recognize the vital role of the teachers, schools and other education professional as well as the parents in their unrelenting efforts in bringing out the best in all students.
The 65 high achievers from 17 UEM Land’s PINTAR schools around Gelang Patah, were presented with cash rewards and certificates by Encik Zulkifli Tahmali Yusof Tahmali, Project Director of Nusajaya, in a prize-giving ceremony in Dewan Raya Gelang Patah, Johor Bahru. The ceremony was graced by Nusajaya State Assemblyman, Datuk Abdul Aziz Sapian.
The overall results of UEM Land’s PINTAR schools’ students recorded notable improvement last year as compared to the previous year. For the UPSR results, it showed a significant leap with 42 students obtaining 5As and 6As as compared to only 29 students in 2009. For the PMR results, 16 students obtained 8As, an increase of 19% compared to the 2009 examination while for the SPM results, one student from SMK Taman Nusa Jaya obtained a remarkable result of 10As. Each of the UPSR, PMR and SPM high achievers were awarded with cash whilst the best overall student for SPM additionally received a computer laptop.
“We are pleased with the achievement of our PINTAR programmes thus far and it is an honour to celebrate these high achievers as their determination and commitment towards achieving success can be emulated by other students. We are truly grateful for the cooperation and support rendered by all parties, particularly the Johor Bahru District Education Department (PPDJB) as well as the schools, teachers and parents for the support and commitment in ensuring the successful implementation of our PINTAR programme,” Zulkifli said.

UEM Land’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy is focused on education and community building via educational programmes such as PINTAR programmes and other community engagement efforts.

The ceremony was also attended by parents of the high performing students, the schools’ principals and teachers, representatives of Johor Bahru District Education Department as well as UEM Land representatives.
